Job Description:

Defines and leads tactical plans with minimal oversight. Develops document structures and manages customer expectations. Routinely makes complex decisions and holds others accountable for quality and deadlines. Responsible for ensuring that all project team members report their time. Creates and encourages a learning environment through process improvement. Maintains focus and quickly eliminates roadblocks. Requires general knowledge of at least one technology discipline and expert level knowledge of project management methodology and tools.

Responsibilities:

• Performs network configuration changes in response to client issues
• Creates and maintains network support documentation including project drawings, configuration templates, and scripts
• Schedules and creates change control records and performs configuration of network elements as directed for small-scale projects in conjunction with change control policies and procedures
• Performs Tier 2 and 3 support functions for network problems in accordance with problem management process involving problems in network as well as with other managed devices and services such as firewalls, load balancers, routers, switches, DNS and mail relay
  • Tier 4 support is Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) engagement level
  • Tier 3 support is Operations Engineer engagement level
  • Tier 2 support is IOC Engineer engagement level
  • Tier 1 support is Global Service Desk/Help Desk
     
• Escalates problems to the internal Network Engineering and external vendors as required and provides support to resolve escalated network issues
• Performs RCA/PIPP/PASD (Root Cause Analysis) on network problems; identifies chronic problems and takes action to identify and resolve the root cause
   

Adheres to network standards in the design and implementation of infrastructure projects

Qualifications:

• College degree, diploma, specialized systems training from NIIT, APTECH or any other recognized institute is a plus
• Typically 2-5 years of combined experience in Networking and systems administration
• Experience with large scale organizations with ability to handle big infrastructure
   

Technical Skills:

• CCNA + MCP or CCNA + MCSE is must
• LAN/WAN knowledge
• IP addressing, DNS, DHCP fundamentals & implementation of the same in large environments
• Good knowledge of proxies
• Firewalls rules (Cisco, Nokia, checkpoint etc)
• Knowledge of QIP (lucent product) is a plus
   

Job specific skills:

• Proficient Level of Telecommunications Skills
• Proficient Level of Major server Operating Systems
• Proficient Level of Networking Skills
• Technical Systems and Operation Management Expert-level hands-on experience with: Ethernet (10/100/1000) technologies, Routers and Switches, as well as Firewalls and Content Switches, Spanning Tree, CDP, VTP, ISL, RIP, IGRP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, Novell RIP, SAP Network Management and Monitoring Software
• Proficient Level of Network diagnostics Skills
• Proficient Level of Security and Risk exposure assessments and mitigation
• Proficient Level of Fault Tolerance design techniques
• Proficient Level of Internetworking Skills
• Proficient Level of TCP/IP routing protocols, NAT, DNS/IP Addressing, firewall policies, geo-load balancing, proxy and cache Servers, network management applications, UNIX OS applications, basic scripting in Bourne shell & Perl, Sun Solaris 2.x and utilities
• Proficient Level of Presentation Skills
• Business system requirements analysis
